About

aBOUT isr

The International Student Resource is a site created with the intention of democratizing the concept of an international student. A student does not have to be a millionaire or a genius to come to study in the United States. International students come from any socioeconomic background, any country, any ethnicity, and any gender. It is not easy to accomplish, but with resources like this, we try to make it as accessible as possible.

In this website, you can find step-by-step information about how to become an international student. From what to do and know before even applying to an American university to what to do and know when adapting to the American culture once arriving.

In addition, the page of student answers will help to clarify any question or concern about this topic. The answers will not only be from the ISR but also from other peers that are or have been in the same situation.

ABOUT

me

"At the age of 15, I realized that I was unhappy with the educational system from my home country. I tried to look for alternatives, but it was not until I was in senior year of high school that I started reaching out for help. My school and city did not have the resources nor the information to help me, therefore I started doing it by myself.

I am an international student from Chile currently studying at Madison Area Technical College and accepted to transfer in the fall of 2021 to the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

My idea of creating this website was to help students to share their experiences, and in that way, tell every student with the dream of studying in the United States that it is possible and that they are not alone."
